My story
Hi, I’m Meiling—born and raised in Tianjin, China, now based in Toronto.
My journey with languages began early: I was the top English student in my class in China, fascinated by languages and cultures. This passion led me to study Psychology and Anthropology in Canada and the U.S. I took French lessons in Canada and built friendships with people from around the world.
For 7 years, I worked in tech as a UX designer, but during the pandemic, I started feeling burned out. That’s when I rediscovered my love for language learning. Watching YouTube vlogs to learn French inspired me to create my YouTube channel, where I teach Chinese through real-life scenarios.
What started as a creative outlet grew into a fulfilling purpose. After 3 years of balancing teaching with my tech career, I realized my true joy came from helping others discover the beauty of Chinese language. So I left my corporate job to focus fully on teaching.
